There are some really exciting changes planned for the ski area in Les Gets this year – 2 brand new lifts and a boarder cross on Mont Chery!
The Chavannes bubble lift is currently undergoing a total facelift for the coming winter (but don’t worry, the bubble cars will still be red!).The thoughtful planners have designed a new station where access to the 6-man lift is on ground level. Capacity will increase from 900 to 1500 per hour, so long queues for ski school should be a thing of the past. What’s more, the whole area at the bottom of the Chavannes will be landscaped so reaching the bubble and drag lifts from ESF will no longer be an uphill struggle. The total investment in the project is 4.5 million euros!
This is something Jim and I are particularly excited about: The red run coming down the Chamoissiere has to be one of Les Gets’ best runs, and now it’ll be much easier to access. The brand new 6-man lift will replace the old Blanchots drag lift and 3-man Chamoissiere chairlift. Starting from the middle section of the Choucas blue run (near the little vin chaud hut), the new lift will whizz you to the peak in 5-7 minutes – we can’t wait!
And if that isn’t enough, Les Gets’ olympic snowboarder champion Deborah Anthonioz (who won silver in Vancouver) has inspired a new boarder cross run on Mont Chery. Throughout the season there will be opportunities to complete the course in the presence of this local celebrity.
With all these new changes afoot and the same great events occurring throughout the season, this winter is set to be a lot of fun!
