When we were searching for the right resort for a Pure Mountain chalet, we came across the lovely village of Les Gets and…well, we stopped looking!
There is something special about this quaint french village. We found that whilst many other ski resorts in France were better known and bigger, Les Gets was the only one that ticked all the boxes that we required to deliver an unforgettable ski experience.
Placed first in a classification of the 50 best ski resorts in the world (the Independent online), Les Gets has managed to maintain much of its original charm and local feel. Traditionally a 12th century farming village, it has an appealing mixture of traditional chalets in distinctive Savoyard style and tasteful modern buildings, creating a charm and character not always found in French resorts.
Out of season, Les Gets is still a farming area, so there’s a traditional market each week and a working fromagerie, which makes delicious local cheese and is open for winter visitors too. There are 48 shops, 25 restaurants, an open air ice rink, a museum, as well as a bowling alley, cinema, bars, discos and a health spa.
Apres Ski Don't SkiLes Gets has a regular weekly program of events, and with such a wide variety of activities there will be something that appeals to everyone. There are guided night tours, pottery and cheesemaking demonstrations, chocolate-making workshops, art and craft workshops for children, and special seasonal events at Christmas and Easter.
